Big Thank You to the Queen

The Bishop of Birmingham, the Rt Revd David Urquhart is inviting the people of Birmingham to join him in signing a ‘Thank You’ letter to the Queen to mark her Diamond Jubilee and 60 years of service to the nation and commonwealth.
The Bishop signed a letter of thanks, in Birmingham Cathedral on Sunday 11 March. Members of the public are invited to come to the Cathedral to add their signatures and well-wishes to the letter to Her Majesty.
The Bishop of Birmingham, the Rt Revd David Urquhart said, ‘This is an excellent opportunity to give a personal message of thanks to our Sovereign, Elizabeth II, who has served the nation and Commonwealth for a remarkable 60 years. I am thankful for the Queens example of private and public prayer and that she has made Christian witness a distinctive mark of her reign. I hope that many others from Birmingham will take this opportunity to extend their gratitude by joining the Diamond Jubilee Big Thank You initiative.
‘The Cathedral is delighted to host this initiative,’ said the Dean of Birmingham, the Very Revd Catherine Ogle. ‘We’ll look forward to contributing our signatures to those of the nation and seeing them delivered to Buckingham Palace. The Queen’s record of faithful service is truly remarkable and in this Diamond Jubilee year she really deserves a resounding vote of thanks.’
The letter will be available to sign during Cathedral opening hours, 8.00am – 6.00pm. Please enter quietly during Service times.
